Transcendental Meditation is more effective than other meditation techniques in reducing anxiety, while also providing a wider array of practical benefits such as improved focus and concentration, better memory, increased creativity, increased happiness, greater self confidence, better mental and physical health, better sleep, and more harmonious personal relationships.
In addition, there are measurable societal benefits such as reduced crime. As a TMer you become a powerful force for improvements in the collective consciousness of society leading to lasting state of World Peace.
No, Transcendental Meditation is very far from difficult. In fact, if you can think a thought, then you can do TM just as easily.
Transcendental Meditation does not involve concentration or control. It's simple, natural and effortless. It's higher degree effectiveness rests entirely on the naturalness of the practice. However, it turns out that we don't do effortless very easily, and so it requires the guidance of a trained teacher to ensure you get the maximum benefit.
A Transcendental Meditation course typically runs for 60-90 minutes per session over 4 consecutive days, supported by 6 months of included follow up sessions. Usually you are feeling some benefits within the first 4 days of initial instruction.
You will find all our TM course fees on our national TM website. Transcendental Meditation is taught on behalf of a registered educational charity (Ed Ch No.270157). The course fees vary depending on your annual income. We don't means test you and just rely on your integrity.
There are special rates for people on lower incomes. We also have a scholarship fund for people who are struggling to make ends meet, so depending on your circumstances, we can sometimes cover part of your course fee, AND you can pay in 2 or 4 installments if preferred. But, before launching on a course of instruction you first need to know what TM does and how it differs from other meditation techniques. This is explained in a Free Introductory Talk in which you will hear how TM is taught, where it comes from, what the requirements are for learning and have the opportunity to question a certified TM teacher.
Besides the initial course of instruction you can have as many free followup sessions as you need for at least 6 months. In practise, we continue to offer this free service for life. You receive a free TM community app for your smartphone with loads of practical support material, helpful videos and a timer. In addition, Transcendental Meditation support sessions can be had from any of our Worldwide TM Centres. You can get your meditation technique checked by a Certified TM Teacher and attend local meditator meetings and group meditation sessions.
Transcendental Meditation is very different from other techniques of meditation in its principles and in the way it is practised and it has different results. It's a simple, natural, effortless practice that anyone can do. This simplicity is what makes it so effective.
No concentration or mental effort is involved. No trying to make your mind go blank, no trying to keep thoughts out, not even trying to relax.
We are engineered from birth to be able to do this. It just requires setting up some initial conditions, just like taking the correct angle when diving, and the result is automatic.
The Objective Scientific Evidence makes these differences very clear: Advances in brain research methods have identified 3 distinct types of meditation technique seen in EEG signatures the brain produces when engaged in different kinds of mental activity. You can read more about it here.
